August 13, 2005

Probable cause was found Thursday in Washington County District Court to forward to Circuit Court rape and sex offense charges against a Hancock man that allege he had sex with his girlfriend's 17-year-old daughter, records state.

Charges against the 47-year-old man of second-, third- and fourth-degree sex offense, second-degree rape, two charges of second-degree assault, perverted practice and attempted third-degree sex offense were forwarded to Circuit Court by retired Washington County District Judge R. Noel Spence during a preliminary hearing Thursday.

The man allegedly had sex with his girlfriend's 17-year-old daughter, who is "mentally handicapped," while his girlfriend was not home between April 1 and June 10, according to court records. The girl was pregnant during one of the reported sexual encounters, according to charging documents.

The girl also told police he went into her bedroom June 9, pulled the covers off of her and tried to fondle her, but she told him no. When the girl got out of bed, he allegedly threatened to call the Department of Social Services to have the girl's baby taken away from her, documents state. He then forced her to perform oral sex on him, documents allege.
