Firefighters contest

The West Virginia Firefighters and Emergency Medical Services competition will be held today and Sunday. Today at 7:30 a.m., competition will include pre-event water rescue, superstars, combat challenge, CPR/driving, first responder scrapbook and photography competitions. Sunday at 7:30 a.m., competition will resume with paramedic, EMT, structural, firefighter and water rescue. The public is invited.

Peach festival

The Leitersburg Peach Festival will feature peaches and peach products such as pies, ice cream, cobbler, tea, food, crafts, petting zoo, antique tractors, pony rides, Civil War encampment and more. Ronnie Ray and the Collers will perform today, and Lou Scally will provide entertainment on Sunday. Today, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. Leitersburg Ruritan Community Park, behind Leitersburg Fire Hall. Free.

Colonial Farm Faire

Craft demonstrations, lectures, music and Colonial games for children. Sponsored by Conococheague Institute. Today and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Conococheague Institute, 12995 Bain Road, Welsh Run, Pa. Free. Donations accepted. Call 717-328-3467.


A celebration of German culture with music, food and dancing. There will be a Kinderwunderland for children. Today, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Downtown Hagerstown across from the Central Parking Lot off North Potomac Street. $7 per day; free for ages 12 and younger. Tickets will be available at the event, online at or at the Convention and Visitors Bureau, 6 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. A per transaction surcharge applies for advance ticket purchases.

Children's fun

The event will feature "Home is Where the Heart Is," an American Girl play. There also will be musical entertainment, crafts and games. Today, 1 to 3 p.m. Waynesboro Historical Society, Oller House. Call 717-593-0577.

Music by the Lake

Dead Men's Hollow will perform. Today, 7 p.m. Hagerstown City Park, band shell. The concert will be canceled if there is heavy rain.

Piano trio

Aaron Tippin

Aaron Tippin will perform two concerts. Sunday, 3 and 8 p.m. Chambersburg Area Senior High School auditorium, 511 S. Sixth St., Chambersburg, Pa. $30, balcony seats; $35 and $38, auditorium floor seating. Community concert

Hagerstown Municipal Band will perform. Selections include "The Crosley March" by Fillmore, "Overture for Band" by Mendelssohn, and "Sun Dance" by Ticheli. Sunday, 8 p.m. Hagerstown City Park, band shell.
