County OKs map amendment

August 10, 2005|by TARA REILLY

The Washington County Commissioners on Tuesday approved a map amendment to the county's Water and Sewerage Plan requested by Rehoboth United Methodist Church.

The church requested the amendment for property it owns at the southwest corner of Md. 68 (Lappans Road) and Md. 632 (Downsville Pike) near Williamsport.

The property is zoned agricultural. The church asked that the designation be changed to a "Restricted Use" water and sewerage service area with water and sewer service priority designations of W-5 and S-5 "Planned Service," according to county documents.

The church is planning a new church and several other facilities at the location as part of a 50-year construction plan.

The plan includes an amphitheater, education center, caretaker/pastor house and senior housing cottages on about 105 acres.
