Health-care reception planned

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Shenandoah Community Health Center, 99 Tavern Road in Martinsburg, will hold a legislative reception Friday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. as part of National Community Health Center Week. Sen. Walt Helmick, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, who lives in Pocahontas County, W.Va., and his fellow legislators will be honored for their efforts in improving access to affordable, quality health care.

In West Virginia, more than 90 community health centers in 47 counties are providing health care to more than 300,000 residents.

Shenandoah Valley Medical System Inc., which includes Shenandoah Community Health Center, provides more than 140,000 services to more than 27,000 residents in five West Virginia counties and Northern Virginia.
