Funkstown firefighters host training session

August 09, 2005

FUNKSTOWN - Ask any firefighter and he will say that there is no such thing as too much training.

In that spirit, members of the Funkstown Volunteer Fire Co. recently hosted a training session that focused on fire ground and hose line operations, water supply and interior attack.

The training took place on White Hall Road at a 11/2-story house donated to the fire company for the purpose of training.

Funkstown Capt. Bradley Giffin was the officer in charge and coordinated all the exercises, which included live fire and smoke as combustible material was burned in different locations of the house.

The training provided experienced firefighters with the opportunity to refresh their skills and allowed newer members the opportunity to experience realistic firefighting under controlled conditions.
