Pageants Aug. 7

Kathleen (K T) Lynch, daughter of Kevin and Jeri Lynch of Hagerstown, has been chosen as a State Finalist in the National American Miss Maryland Pageant, to be held Aug. 14-15 at the Frederick Holidome and Conference Center in Frederick, Md.

The winner of the pageant will receive a $1,000 cash award, the official crown and banner, a bouquet of roses and air transportation to compete in the national pageant at Disneyland in California.

The National American Miss Pageants are for "Today's Girl" and "Tomorrow's Leaders." The program is based on inner beauty, as well as poise and presentation. Emphasis is placed on the importance of gaining self-confidence, learning new skills, learning good attitudes about competition, and setting and achieving personal goals. Pageants are held for girls in five age groups.

Lynch, who is working for Denny's, will return to Pennsylvania in the fall to continue her education. She enjoys reading, running, writing and crocheting in her spare time. Her sponsors include her parents, Patrick Lynch, Irene Bellissimo, Larry Rife, Wade Wiley, Red Hat Chick Clicks, Gourmet on the Go, Beaver Creek Lions Club and St. Joseph Catholic Church.
