Pet of the week

August 06, 2005

Liddy is a young Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. She's about a year old with lots of energy. A perky girl with big brown eyes, Liddy would benefit from good manners training and care.

Pet tip: Heat stroke

Symptoms of heat stroke or heat exhaustion can include heavy panting, glazed eyes, a rapid pulse, unsteadiness, vomiting, or a deep red/purple tongue. If a pet becomes overheated, try to lower his body temperature. Move the pet into the shade and apply cool water over his body to lower temperature.

Let pets drink small amounts of water. Go to a veterinarian immediately.
