Jamaican festival, golf tournament scheduled

Memorial Recreation Center Inc. and Jamaican Citizens of Washington County are coming together this month for their annual weekend of fundraising fun.

Friday, Aug. 19, will be The Second Annual Two on Two Scramble Golf Challenge at Black Rock Golf Course. The event begins at 7 a.m., with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.

Admission is $75 per person or $150 for two people.

The event includes lunch and prizes for the longest drive, closest to the pin, 50/50 holes, giveaways, hole-in-one-win a car and door prizes.

The Sixth Annual Jamaican Festival will be Saturday, Aug. 20, from noon to 8 p.m. at Hagerstown's Wheaton Park.

This event brings the foods and sounds of the Caribbean to Hagerstown for a day. On hand will be members of the health-care community, who will be sharing educational information. There also will be food, specialty items, vendors, music and a 50/50 raffle. Admission is free.
