What do you think?

July 31, 2005

Editor's note: Each week, The Herald-Mail invites readers to answer poll questions on its Web site, www.herald-mail.com. Readers also may submit comments about the poll question when voting. Each Sunday, a sampling of reader comments will appear in The Herald-Mail.

Last week's poll question was: What are you doing to beat the heat?

"Actually, I really enjoy the heat. I think it really depends on what you normally do all day. I work inside in air conditioning all day so when I take a break or am off work, it feels great to get outside and warm up! If I was working outside I'm sure I'd have a much different opinion."

"I vote for staying in where it's cool unless I can hang out near the water."

"I'm trying to ignore the heat and continue with my daily activities ... it's not that bad."

"At least there's some relief in sight from the heat."

"I don't like it. I want to move west where it is much cooler and less humid. But I live here and work here, so I will try to deal. I will stay inside in my air-conditioned condo as long as it stays above 90F."

"After I sent that comment, I realized that the West does, indeed, have a lot of hot spots. But I didn't mean the desert. I meant somewhere all the way west like Seattle or San Francisco. Their temps have been a little more to my liking - mid-70s."

"I love the heat, but could do without the humidity, so I will be outside at the lakes all summer."
