July 31, 2005

FREDERICK, Md. - Police took two men into custody early Friday morning after a four-hour standoff at a local hotel.

Alan J. Dorsey Jr., 22, of Frederick, was wanted on charges of failing to appear in court and transporting a handgun on a public roadway, according to a news release from the Frederick County Sheriff's Office.

Police learned at 4:07 a.m. Friday that Dorsey was in a hotel room at the Travelodge, 200 Walser Drive, Frederick. After negotiators failed in trying to bring Dorsey out, the county's tactical response team entered and took Dorsey and a second man, Ryan Ritter, 24, of Frederick, into custody.

Police said they found two handguns, marijuana and cocaine inside the room.

Ritter was charged with harboring a fugitive and hindering an investigation. Both Dorsey and Ritter were taken to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.
