Pet of the week

July 30, 2005

Smokey is a 6-year-old female feline with a long and silky tortoiseshell coat. She has been spayed and her front paws have been declawed. Smokey, a lovable cat who purrs almost nonstop when she is petted, is suited for indoor living only.

Pet tip: Reduce flea and tick risk

To reduce the risk of fleas, comb your pet regularly with a flea comb, vacuum frequently and dispose of the bags immediately, wash pet bedding weekly and wash your pet with a pesticide-free pet shampoo.

Never use flea and tick products designed for dogs on a cat, or vice versa. For severe problems, consult a veterinarian.
