July 28, 2005

SALISBURY, Md. - The Hagerstown Suns and Delmarva Shorebirds were locked in a 2-2 tie after six innings when rain forced play to be suspended Wednesday night.

The game will be completed when the Suns return to Delmarva for a three-game series beginning Aug. 25. Hagerstown travels to Kannapolis for a four-game series beginning today.

Hagerstown scored the game's first run in the fifth inning when Derran Watts singled with one out, stole second and scored on Joseph Mihalics' two-out single. The Suns took a 2-0 lead in the sixth when Armand Gaerlan singled leading off, stole second, went to third on catcher Matt Houston's throwing error and scored on Mike Carp's sacrifice fly.

Delmarva tied the game in the bottom half on Rafael Diaz's single, two walks (one with the bases loaded), a hit batter and a sacrifice fly by Jason Fransz.
