FREDERICK, Md. - A 9-year-old autistic boy from Ballenger Creek, Md., who was reported missing Monday afternoon was found in a neighbor's swimming pool and later was pronounced dead, a Frederick County Sheriff's Office official said.

Johann VonBallmoos was reported missing from the 5000 block of Mercantile Drive shortly after 1 p.m. After a three-hour search, police found him submerged in a pool at a residence on Derby Drive, a few blocks from his home, according to the Sheriff's Office.

"We had numerous deputies canvassing the area, a bloodhound and a helicopter," said Cpl. Jennifer Bailey, a spokesperson for the Sheriff's Office. "There were lots of different disciplines out there looking for the child."

After finding the boy in the pool, deputies administered first aid until a helicopter arrived to fly him to Frederick Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the Sheriff's Office.
