Rested Suns knock off Lake County, 7-2

EASTLAKE, Ohio - Despite a two-day layoff, the Hagerstown Suns came out scoring runs in five different innings on the way to a 7-2 win over the Lake County Captains on Thursday.

The Suns, 10-15 in the second half of the South Atlantic League campaign, jumped out to a 5-0 lead through 6 1/2 innings before the Captains reached Hagerstown starter Blake Eager for two runs.

Derran Watts got the Suns started with a solo home run in the second inning. Mike Carp singled, advanced on a throwing error and scored on a fielder's choice for a 2-0 Suns lead.

The Suns added two runs in the sixth on a Carp single and Jesus Flores home run to right field.

In the seventh, Russ Triplett singled and scored on two groundouts.

The Suns closed out the scoring in the ninth, plating two runs when Triplett walked and Ambiorix Concepcion hit his 11th home run of the season.

Eager, posting his fifth win in eight decisions, allowed only four hits.

Hagerstown continues its series on the road tonight against Lake County before the two teams return to Municipal Stadium on Saturday.
