Here are some of the calls we have received lately:

"I wish we were getting street lights here like Greenberry Hills."

- Hagerstown

"I am a little tired of reading about Bush and Clinton. I didn't vote so I don't have anything to say and no right to say anything negative or positive. It's just getting boring, so why don't we liven this column up a little bit?"

- Hagerstown

"This is in reference to the person who made the Archie Bunker comment in Friday's paper. Obviously, it must not be too bad because they are apparently raising it or they wouldn't even know that they existed."

- Hagerstown

"I would like to congratulate my dog, Bo, for not having any fleas."

- Smithsburg

"Some callers need to realize that just because a person signs up for the military voluntarily does not mean that you can treat their lives as a blank check. The point is that if everyone voted as if their daughter or son was a soldier they might put a little more thought into the vote. People who can casually dismiss the lives of so many volunteer soldiers without volunteering themselves are known as chicken hawks."

- Hagerstown

"This is to the mayor of Williamsport. Why do you allow sidewalk yard sales in town? Besides the traffic congestion, you can't walk on the sidewalks and our driveways are blocked all day long. It's bad enough during C&O Canal Days but now I hear that there is going to be a whole block doing this for an entire weekend and this just isn't right."

- Williamsport

"I don't think that the United States can take three more years of George Bush. God bless America."

- Clear Spring

"I also would want to congratulate Pat for losing 75 pounds and to Fluffy for learning to sit and dear little Bubba for being potty trained. What a wonderful county we live in! I only wish that the landlords and the proofreaders would get their act together and that Greenberry Hills would get their street lights."

- Keedysville

"I just want to touch briefly on two subjects. First of all, the reason people are moving to Pennsylvania is because they don't have to pay state tax on their retirement while in Maryland they tax everything. And the second point that I would like to make, people with the groundhog problems should get those smoke bombs or have their grandson shoot them like I do."

- Boonsboro

"I'm calling about the letter on women with the support checks and the deadbeat dads. I agree with the other reader. The only thing that I disagree with is that most of the women do know who's the baby's daddy, as she put it. And what they do is they get cash from the father and then collect from the state, which we pay for. That way they get both from both worlds and I think it is very sad."

- Hagerstown

"This is in response to the person that was talking about the deer at the battlefield. Give it a break. I mean, what a beautiful sight to see wild deer running through a battlefield where you take your child and have a picnic. What do you want them to do? Run down the street and get a hotel room! Get a life."

- Hagerstown

"I'm calling about the bad road conditions on Eastern Boulevard between Food Lion and Community Rescue Service. This is definitely the worst section of road in the city and whoever attempted to patch it up several times has only made it worse."

- Hagerstown

"In Friday's Daily Mail on the back page it says a former school superintendent molested this young girl who was 12 years old on several occasions and they are giving him six months. Is there anybody that thinks this is justice? He should be locked up and the key thrown away. This is not justice."

- Boonsboro

"I would like to know if there is anyone who knows how to get rid of crickets because it's about time for them. Is there anything you could do because they get into my house? If there is, could you please let me know in Mail Call on how to take care of this problem?"

- Hagerstown

"I am calling to let the person know who has been burning trash in Robinwood. First of all, it is illegal to burn trash and second we cannot open our windows because of the smell. So please pay for trash pickup like the rest of the neighbors do."

- Hagerstown b>

"To the person in Boonsboro who said that watching President Bush makes his blood pressure go up. Why don't you go to another country and leave that alone here, so we can enjoy our beautiful country and our wonderful president."

- Hagerstown

"To Joe who called in and offered to paint the 80-year-old's house. I thank you and I am sure that your good deed will come back to you someday."

- Hagerstown
