Child flown out after pool accident

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - A child was flown to Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center after an accident Monday morning in a backyard pool in Quincy Township, according to the president of the Mont Alto Ambulance Squad.

The incident was called in at 10:16 a.m. from 9400 Anthony Highway, Charles Baker said Monday afternoon. The child was taken to Waynesboro Hospital, then flown to Hershey by Life Lion helicopter, he said.

Baker did not release the name or age of the child, or the circumstances of how the child was discovered in the above-ground pool. The child's condition was not available Monday night.

The incident was dispatched as a drowning, according to the Franklin County 911 Center.

Along with the ambulance squad, Baker said the Medic II advanced life support unit from Waynesboro Hospital and Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched to the home near the intersection with Pine Hill Road.

Pennsylvania State Police said the investigating officer was unavailable Monday afternoon.
