Suns rip Power

CHARLESTON, W.Va ? What the Hagerstown Suns couldn't do during a mini two-game homestand against West Virginia they were able to do on Monday night on the road against the Power ? win.

The Suns rebounded from a 14-inning loss Sunday to rumble past West Virginia 8-2 with a four-run fourth inning that snapped a 2-2 tie.

James Burt and Russ Triplett had back-to-back doubles to open the fourth with Burt scoring for a 3-2 lead. Yury Santan walked and he, along with Triplett, scored on a fielding error.

Carlos Gomez, who reached on the error, stole second and scored on a single by Ambiorix Concepcion.

Mike Carp added a two-run home run in the ninth inning, his 19th blast of the year.

The Suns hit at the right time, saving a strong performance by Mike Devaney, who went six innings allowing only five hits and striking out eight for his sixth win in seven decisions.

Joe Serfass came on for three innings of relief and allowed only one hit while striking out four.
