MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Martinsburg might introduce a new police chief this week to replace Chief Ted Anderson, who is retiring at the end of the month, City Manager Mark Baldwin said Friday.

After the position was posted in-house on July 1, one candidate, a current Martinsburg Police Department officer, was interviewed for the job, Baldwin said.

Assuming the job is accepted, that person could be named to the post soon, Baldwin said.

Anderson, who declined to be interviewed, has been in law enforcement for 31 years, and has worked for the Martinsburg Police Department for more than 27 years.
