SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Kitty Clark would like people to give dance a try and the next two weekends provide a great opportunity to do so.

The fifth annual Goose Route Dance Festival runs Friday through Sunday this weekend and next with dance performances, classes and lectures.

Each dance concert features a variety of dance so spectators won't be seeing just one choreographer's work, said Clark, festival founder and artistic director of Goose Route Dance Theatre.

"If you don't like one thing, you might like the next thing a whole lot better," Clark said.

Clark started the festival in 2001 after Quincy Northrup, president of The Mardi Gras Fund in Shepherdstown challenged her to start a dance festival.

The festival has drawn interest from dance communities outside the area with this year's festival including performances by dance companies from New York City, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and Richmond, Va.
