Jean R. Colas, 54

FEB. 8, 1951-JULY 7, 2005

Jean Rene Colas, 54, of 19030 Longmeadow Road, Hagerstown, Md., passed away, Thursday, July 7, 2005, at the Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.

Born Thursday, Feb. 8, 1951, in St. Marc, Haiti, he was the son of Ciniarita Colof Colas of Canada and the late Marc Colas.

He completed college in Haiti with a degree in accounting.

He was currently employed as a chef at Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion.

He was a member of Paramount Brethren in Christ Church and Morrris Frock Post 42.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Ghislaine Adam Colas; four daughters, Stephanie Colas of Hagerstown, Vanice Colas of Hagerstown, D'jemima Colas of Hagerstown, and Betchiba Colas of Hagerstown; son, Jean Lawrence Colas of Hagerstown; five sisters, Lucine Colas and daughters Catherine and Fransisca, Manise Colas and sons Joel and Evans, Marie Gerda Prespigren, Maffie Colas and son Judson, Mireille Colas; three brothers, Flovaer Colas and daughters Rachel and Maude, Marc Colas and daughters Cinarina, Nicole-Anne, Tatiana and Andr Colas


Services will be held Saturday, July 16, 2005, at 10 a.m. from the Paramount Brethren in Christ, 19106 Longmeadow Road, Hagerstown, with the Rev. James R. Stauffer officiating.

Family will receive friends at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. N., Hagerstown, from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 15. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made for the benefit of the family's children c/o Paramount Brethren in Christ Church, 19106 Longmeadow Road, Hagerstown, MD 21742.

Walter D. Nickels, 61

OCT. 13, 1943-JULY 12, 2005

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Retired Chief Master Sergeant Walter Dennis "Nick" Nickels, 61, of 154 S. Price Ave., died Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Oct. 13, 1943, in Gettysburg, Pa., he was the son of Margaret Clark Nickels of Pierre, S.D., and the late Walter Nickels.

He graduated from high school and attended two years of college.

He served in the U.S. Air Force for 31 years, serving during the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He served at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., Site R in Cascade and Shape, Belgium (NATO).

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Patricia Pudney Nickels, whom he married March 13, 1976; two sons, Mark W. Nickels and Matthew W. Nickels, both of Waynesboro; two sisters, Mary Linhander of Georgia and Lois Cordell of South Dakota; one brother, George Nickels of Wyoming; nieces; and nephews.

A memorial service will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home in Waynesboro. The Rev. Roger K. Myers will officiate.

There will be no public viewing. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by Cumberland Valley Crematorium in Waynesboro.

Betty R. Doyle, 80

SEPT. 28, 1924-JULY 11, 2005

ST. THOMAS, Pa. - Betty Rosaline Doyle, 80, of Schoolhouse Road, died Monday, July 11, 2005, at Chambersburg Hospital in Chambersburg, Pa.

Born Sept. 28, 1924, in McConnellsburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Oscar E. and Orpha Newman Garland.

Her husband, William Henry Doyle, died in 2003. They were married April 23, 1944.

She was formerly employed by Sagner Inc. in McConnellsburg, where she was a seamstress.

She was of the Methodist faith.

She and her husband were members of Mason-Dixon Winnies.

She is survived by one daughter, Sandra J. Garlock of McConnellsburg; one son, Stanley W. Doyle of Gardners, Pa.; one sister, Marjorie Tice of Chambersburg; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and one great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Garland.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at M.R. Brown Funeral Home in Hustontown, Pa. Pastor John Godissart will officiate. Burial will be in Hustontown Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service Friday.

Rosamund R. Harris, 98

MARCH 18, 1907-JUNE 2, 2005

PARSIPPANY, N.J. - Rosamund R. Harris, 98, of Parsippany, and formerly of Mercersburg, Pa., died Thursday, June 2, 2005, at Troy Hills Center in Parsippany.

Born March 18, 1907, in Sudan, she was the daughter of the late George and Kathleen Spring Sowash.

Her husband, Eric E. Harris, died in 1996.

She was educated in Scotland and the United States.

She formerly taught remedial reading at Mercersburg Academy.

She is survived by one son, Michael Harris of Rockaway, N.J.; one granddaughter, Michelle Reynolds; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

A graveside memorial service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Mercersburg. The Rev. Paul Galey will officiate.

Arrangements are by Lininger-Fries Funeral Home in Mercersburg.
