Mail call for Fri 7/8/05

July 12, 2005

"I really disagree with George Bush. If we would have crawled into the desert after Sept. 11 and made it a parking lot we still wouldn't be looking for bin Laden and we would have not had the al-Qaida attacks in London. So, once again, Bush messes up. Let's just go ahead and make the desert a parking lot. A Disney World would look fine there. Perhaps a McDonald's or even a Burger King."

- Hagerstown

"This is to the callers who still want to bash President Clinton. Clinton has been out of office for some time now. He and President Bush are not perfect. But give Clinton a break. Focus on this country and President Bush at this time. And you should focus on it because we are going through some bad times right now."

- Hagerstown

"Congratulations, Jessica, on your four-year degree at the University of Maryland and your new job at Kmart. Way to go! You go, girl."

"I am not going to mention any names or anything but I think it is downright rude for doctors to make a habit of calling people and having them come in for appointments and not seeing them for an hour or so after the appointment time. I understand that there can be emergencies, but not every time."

- Hagerstown

"I am calling in regards to what someone had in here the other day. Someone called in and was complaining about people calling in and congratulating kindergarten students who graduate. That is a big accomplishment, graduating from kindergarten. The children that go to kindergarten nowadays learn a lot more than what they learned years ago. So whoever said this should really go into a kindergarten class and see what they are learning. My granddaughter is only 2 years old and she is in day care and she is learning sign language and Spanish."

- Hagerstown

"If you are a resident of either Robinwood or Sycamore Heights and your child is missing a skateboard, he is probably one of the group of kids who are throwing rocks at cars on Robinwood Drive. I have three skateboards that I have picked up."

- Smithsburg

"I live in West Virginia and I have called Hagerstown my hometown for the first 40 years of my life. I remember when downtown Hagerstown had all kinds of stores, restaurants and movie theaters. There was always something going on downtown. Why do they keep giving permits for shopping centers? And the more shopping centers that go up, the less stuff there will be to do downtown. Why can't they just move some of the stores into the shopping centers that are empty?"

- Hagerstown

"I am calling about my ATM card someone stole. You just made it very difficult for me to pay my rent. I live at Potomac Towers. My family and I have an idea of who you are. If you do not reimburse us, we will press charges."

- Hagerstown

"This is reference to the Pennsylvania complaint about how Marylanders moving there raises their taxes and how Marylanders need to stay in their own state. Well, why don't Pennsylvanians and West Virginians stay where they belong?"

- Hagerstown

"I think there is a simple solution for there to be peace around the world. That every country withdraw their troops, everyone from Iraq. They have been fighting amongst themselves for hundreds of years. So let them continue to fight amongst themselves so we can save our troops."

- Washington County

"I'm calling about the caller from Blue Ridge Summit who wanted to congratulate themselves on getting up and going to work on July 6. Congratulations to you. I know how difficult it can be to get up and go to work on such a beautiful day. Congratulations to you and keep up the good work."

- Hagerstown

"To the person who called from Blue Ridge Summit on July 6. Congratulations to you, too. I am bipolar and I know how hard it can be to get up to do anything. Good going and I hope you feel this way all week."

- Hagerstown

"Does anybody notice that every time Bush gives a speech there is a bombing? Bush, if you are a real Christian like you say you are, why don't you resign? Simple as that."

- Hagerstown

"Why complain that there are West Virginia and Pennsylvania phone numbers? I complain that the numbers and names are so small that I can't even read them."

- West Virginia

"This is for the person who called in and said that 'Whoever voted for Bush should be ashamed of themselves.' I wanted to let that person know that I am not ashamed of the fact that I voted for Bush and that I am proud of it. What I am ashamed of is living in a country with people who think the way that they do."

- Williamsport

"I was proud of our Williamsport Fourth of July celebration. The music and the fireworks were fantastic. It made you feel like you were on a postcard at the Williamsport park. Thanks to all who made this possible."

- Williamsport

"This is for the person who said that Bush is way better than Clinton ever was. When Clinton was president, I had money in my pocket. Now that Bush is president, I am one paycheck away from living on the streets."

- Sharpsburg
