LEGION BASEBALL



MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Funkstown went 5-0 at the Berkeley Post 14 Summer Invitational Tournament, beating Berkeley Post 14 9-6 in the championship game Sunday.

Kyle Robinson drove in three runs for Funkstown (29-6) in the final, while Trevor Cobb and Jay Love each had two RBI.

After defeating the Greater Loudon Lions on Thursday, Funkstown beat Mount Airy 10-6 and Beckley Bash Post 32 twice, 13-6 and 5-4.

Robinson and Phil Powell each hit a grand slam in the tournament, and Kevin Brashears had five hits and five RBI in the two games against Beckley. #

Williamsport: Kyle Kane 4 hits; Aaron Hershberger, Ryan Heavner 3 hits each; Justin Bussard 2 hits.

Note: Williamsport (17-7) finished second in the Potomac Junior Legion League and begins postseason play Friday in Montgomery County.




AUTO RACING



Hagerstown Speedway


Tim McCreadie led for 33 laps and won the Late Model Feature race at Hagerstown Speedway on Saturday night. Bobby Beard captured the Late Model Sportsman, leading the final eight laps.

The U.S. Hot Rod Monster Jam will be held Friday and Saturday nights at 8 and Sunday afternoon at 2.
