July 07, 2005

A traffic stop on Interstate 81 Wednesday at midday resulted in drug charges against two Wisconsin men and a weapons charge against one of the occupants, Maryland State Police said.

At 11:48 a.m., Trooper 1st Class M.A. Ford stopped a green 1997 Saturn, which was northbound on I-81 at the Salem Avenue interchange for a traffic violation, police said.

During the investigation, Ford found drugs, drug paraphernalia and a concealed switchblade knife.

Maurice Messier III, 26, of Madison, Wis., was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, police said.

Evan A. Peters, 21, of McFarland, Wis., was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, as well as concealing a deadly weapon, police said.

Messier and Peters each posted a $5,000 bond and were released Wednesday afternoon, according to a Washington County District Court bond commissioner.
