Girl injured in fall from bicycle

July 02, 2005

Rescuers from Clear Spring were called to Four Locks Road along the C&O Canal Friday for an 8-year-old girl who fell off her bicycle while riding along the canal, according to emergency dispatch information.

The girl's identity was not immediately known. Rescuers were dispatched at 3:09 p.m. after the girl apparently rode down a ravine accidentally. The girl was taken by ambulance to Washington County Hospital with a cut to her head and swelling.

At the time of the accident, the girl was listed as a "priority one" patient, which is the most severe trauma code.
