Traffic on I-70 slowed after crash

Traffic along a stretch of eastbound Interstate 70 in Washington County was delayed for several hours Sunday after a truck and a camper it was towing went off the road and struck a tree, according to a Maryland State Police news release.

Police said the truck and camper were traveling east of U.S 40 just after 2:30 p.m. when the camper began to swerve, causing the crash. Police said two occupants, whose identities and injuries were not released, were taken to Washington County Hospital by ambulance.

Police said late Sunday that the occupants' injuries were minor.

Woman faces theft, weapons charges

FREDERICK, Md. - A Frederick woman was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and carrying a concealed weapon after she allegedly took a man's car Saturday, police said in a written news release.

Taji Rae Fleming, 20, was pulled over in the area of Country Hill Apartments after a man reported to police around 5:45 p.m. a woman had taken his 1989 Oldsmobile, police said.


Frederick police also alleged Fleming was carrying a switchblade-style knife at the time of the traffic stop.

Police: Man dressed as woman charged

FREDERICK, Md. - A Frederick man whom police said dressed as a woman during an alleged attempted theft at The Bon-Ton in Frederick Towne Mall was charged with five counts of theft of items totaling less than $500, two counts of theft of items totaling more than $500 and possession of marijuana.

According to a Frederick Police Department press release, Lewis Eugene Nolan, 46, was wearing women's clothing and a wig when he allegedly tried to purchase women's shoes with a stolen check at 6:32 p.m. Saturday.

Police allege Nolan was carrying a purse that had been stolen earlier in the day at a grocery store. Police said they recovered about $1,800 worth of merchandise allegedly stolen from a lingerie and video store on U.S. 40 and some marijuana from the vehicle Nolan was operating.

Pistol reported stolen from Pa. home

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - A .357 Sig Sauer pistol and ammunition were stolen last week from a home on Bino Road, west of Greencastle, Pennsylvania State Police said.

The gun is worth about $400, police said.

Hagerstown man in motorcycle crash

MYERSVILLE, Md. - A Hagerstown man was flown to Washington County Hospital on Saturday after his motorcycle crashed on Interstate 70, Maryland State Police said.

Darren Hamilton, 37, was riding west at about 7:30 p.m. when he lost control of his Suzuki motorcycle near the Washington County line and hit a state highway sign, Sgt. Ira Click said.

A hospital spokesperson said Sunday morning that Hamilton was in fair condition.
