GREENCASTLE, Pa. - The Coasters. The Drifters. The Marvellettes. While the names of these bands might be familiar to some, their individual hits are familiar to almost everyone. The Drifters' "Under the Boardwalk," the Coasters' "Yakety Yak" and the Marvellettes' "Playboy" are three of the hits of the 1950s and '60s that the singing groups will present in their upcoming concert on Saturday, June 25.

"This is one of the biggest shows we have all year," Capitol Theatre marketing director Beth Thorenson said. "People of all ages can have a lot of fun."

Linda Boeckman, operations manager for the Capitol Theatre, sees this concert as an uplifting event. She says the songs' easy rhythms yield visions of a lazy, fun, relaxing day on the beach.

"This is something that brings people back to a time when the beach was a fun place to often go," she said. "These bands play music that you always have in the back of your head, songs that you hear while walking on a boardwalk or next to a caf on the beach. It is a very fun, relaxing, family-friendly type of music."

The Cornell Gunter Coasters entertain crowds with a lighthearted banter. Their comedy is almost as well known from their modern shows as their music.

The Beary Hobbs' Drifters' legacy is continued by the remaining members of the band, after the death of the original bass player and founder Beary Hobbs. They perform hits such as "This Magic Moment" and "Under the Boardwalk."

The Marvellettes' perform smooth Motown rhythms with an eccentric, entertaining performance.

The concert will be held in Greencastle-Antrim High School's auditorium. The Capitol Theatre remains closed following the collapse of a portion of the roof. The auditorium is on South Ridge Avenue, Greencastle, three blocks off of Pa. 16.
