A Hagerstown resident charged in a burglary that occurred just days after he was sentenced to probation will face charges in Washington County Circuit Court, according to court records.

Washington County District Judge M. Kenneth Long Jr. found probable cause to forward four counts against Montague Stephen Sutherland, 17, of 650 N. Prospect St., Apt. 2, during a hearing Wednesday.

Sutherland was charged with first-, third- and fourth-degree burglary and theft less than $500 in a May 12 incident.

The Hagerstown Police Department alleges Sutherland broke into a residence in the first block of Belview Avenue and ran from the scene upon seeing an officer.

Sutherland was given two concurrent five-year prison sentences, which were suspended, and placed on four years of unsupervised probation May 9 in connection with a December 2004 incident at an apartment complex.
