Suns start second half the way they finished first

June 22, 2005

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Dante Brinkley was 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a two-run single, and Aaron Hathaway added his first home run of the season as the Hagerstown Suns defeated the Lakewood BlueClaws 8-5 on Tuesday night in the South Atlantic League second-half opener for both teams.

The Suns scored at least one run in each inning from the third through the eighth. Brinkley's third-inning single gave the Suns a 2-1 lead.

Ambiorix Concepcion doubled, stole third and scored on Hathaway's RBI groundout in the fourth. Brinkley's home run in the fifth tied it at 4-4.

Hagerstown took the lead for good in the sixth with the help of two errors, one which let Concepcion reach base leading off the inning. He stole second before scoring on Ryan Coultas' single, and James Burt - who walked earlier in the inning - went to third on Carlos Gomez's sacrifice fly and scored on the ensuing throwing error to make it 6-4.
