June 22, 2005

The Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park has begun repairing the lockhouse at Lock 37 in the Dargan area. Known as the Mountain Lock, the repairs are expected to be completed by Aug. 1.

The repair work is being done as part of a lockhouse preservation project funded by the Save America's Treasures grant program, which is administered by the National Park Service in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities.
