Here are some of the calls we have received lately:

"I'm calling about the Division of Corrections state employees in Hagerstown and throughout the state. We are not oppossed to the new programs that are being proposed. We are very upset at how employees are being treated. Employees should be the best resource but instead we are being treated like groups that are being discriminated against."

"We are calling to say congratulations to our dear little angel, Kelsey May, who completed kindergarten this year. We love her very, very much and we hope she has a happy, safe, pleasant, summer and I'm sure she'll do good in first grade. We love her very, very much. She is our precious little angel. Love, Nanny and Pappy."

- Quincy, Pa.

"To the individual who said 'send Michael Jackson to France,' for French behavior is a norm. When was the last time you were in France? I'm from France and I don't remember his behavior being normal over there, either."

- Hagerstown

"You want us to move on past weapons of mass destruction. How about George Jr. ? I believe he lied about Iraq in order to pull George Sr. out of the fire and get even with a man named Saddam Hussein who had laughed at his father because his father was no longer in power while Hussein was. Because of the one lie about the WMDs, everything that has ever been said about Iraq is suspect from the torture chambers to however many people got killed by Saddam Hussein. What is not a lie is that nearly 2,000 men and women, who belong to this country, have been killed."

- Hagerstown

"I completely agree with the person who said Michael Jackson's picture and story should not have been on the front page of the newspaper. It should have been on the comics page."

- Hagerstown

"Something really needs to be done about the rent in Hagerstown. Looking for a three-bedroom apartment and the amount they charge is ridiculous. I went out looking and couldn't find anything below $895. It was from $895 to $1,000 and more a month. It's ridiculous. Something really needs to be done about this."

- Hagerstown

"I think it's ridiculous that the guy who was convicted of poisoning that dog got off with only giving $4,000 to the Humane Society. I think he should serve 10 to 15 years for killing that dog."

- Hagerstown

"Is there a price on how much the state spent on getting clubs on all the steering wheels on all of the vehicles? I think all the state vehicles have a truck club but not a car club."

"I and some ladies who live in Washington Gardens also watch the council meetings every week and as a taxpayer I have done some homework on subsidized housing and we have between 2,500 and 3,000 units in Hagerstown with the population around 37,000. I think we do our share and the nonprofit groups should go to a bank for their money for improvements."

- Hagerstown

"I'd like to know who is the rocket scientist who designed the sign in front of E. Russell Hicks Middle School. Whoever heard of putting chrome letters on a gray background? You have to get out of your car and stand in front of it and read it because you can't read it from the road."

- Boonsboro

"If he is an animal lover and a dog lover, then why did he give the dog fat waste with antifreeze?"

- Boonsboro

"I'd just like to know who to call about weeds being taken down? When you turn off Dual Highway onto Crestview Road there is a section that just has so many weeds growing up and it's really starting to look bad. If someone could let me know who to contact on that, I would really appreciate it."

"To the person living in Washington Gardens, my son just got a job making more than $7 a hour and he's been working less than three months."

"If you love your children, please keep them properly secured in the back seat of your car. Did you hear me, the 'back seat,' not the front."

- Hagerstown

"I agree with the person who commented on several council members who showed not to be so considerate and were disruptive when someone else is speaking. It's hard to hear over them. Also, I wanted to welcome our new mayor Trump. It's so refreshing to see our mayor be so energetic and so upbeat about our city and we all love that great smile. To some of the council members, maybe if you look to mayor Trump as an example, you'll try to be more positive about our community. We all would like to see you smile more and treat our mayor with more respect. Showing such anger to the mayor and others is not going to help our city."

"I don't have a problem with yard sales but I have a problem with the people who shop at them. They trespass on people's property, they park in people's driveways, they have total disregard and respect for people that live nearby. Like I said, I don't have a problem with yard sales, it's the inconsiderate people who attend them."

- Hagerstown

"I just want to let everyone know that Bob Miller from Hagerstown helped me change a tire because I didn't have a jack in my car and I had my 2- year-old daughter in the car. He was nice enough to help me change my tire when I was broken down."
