Nurse of the Year winners
Washington County Hospital recently named its 2005 Professional Nurse of the Year award winners. This award is given annually to a clinical nurse and administrative nurse who best exemplify the outstanding abilities of a professional nurse. Nurses are nominated and selected for the awards based on their contributions to the area of expertise, professionalism, and education. The award winners for this year are:
Sheryl Aiken, RN, clinical nurse of the year. Aiken works in the post anesthesia care unit.
Joie Rotz, RN, administrative nurse of the year. Rotz is director of quality and risk management and patient safety officer for Washington County Health System.
During the ceremony, hospital administrators and members of the board of directors honored the contributions made by all nursing staff. In addition, the Nursing Education Fund received two monetary gifts. The Washington County Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association presented a gift of $1,000. The Washington County Hospital Auxiliary presented a gift of $3,000. The gifts will be used to advance the practice of nursing at the hospital through continued education.
