Hood College

FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College Board of Trustees elected a new chair and vice chair at a recent meeting.

Michelle Morton-Schoeffel of San Diego, is the new chair of the board, and Ray Ramsburg, of Ijamsville, Md., was elected to the No. 2 post. Each will serve a two-year term in those positions.

Morton-Schoeffel is president and chief executive officer of Pacific American Securities LLC, an institutional brokerage firm with offices in California, New York, Ohio and Illinois. She also is president of Pacific American Advisers LLC, an accounting firm, and has served as chair of Hood's Board of Trustees' finance and investment committee for the past two years.

Ramsburg, a Frederick businessman and a 1983 alumnus of Hood, is an insurance executive with BB&T Frederick Underwriters. From 1996 to 2004, he served on the 50-member Board of Associates, an advisory group to the board of trustees and to Hood's president. It is comprised of alumnae and alumni, parents and friends of Hood from throughout the region who support the college.


Ramsburg was elected to the board of trustees in 2004 and has been a member of its audit and finance and investment committees.

Maryland Trial Lawyers Association

Elizabeth Frey, a Myersville, Md., resident and a nurse-attorney at the Washington, D.C., malpractice law firm Jack H. Olender & Associates, was installed as president-elect of the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association at the Association's annual convention in Baltimore on June 3.

Frey belongs to the Bar Association of Frederick County, the Maryland State Bar Association, the American Association of Nurse Attorneys, and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.

Monumental Life Insurance Co.

Craig Fogle, a 20-year veteran agent for Monumental Life Insurance Co. in the Hagerstown district, was the leading agent for Staff 1 for the months of February, March and April. He won a weekend getaway to Inner Harbor.

Fogle works in Frederick County, Md.

n Rochelle Scott was the leading agent for Staff 8 for the months of February, March and April. She won a getaway to Felicita Resort in Harrisburg, Pa.

Scott works in Frederick County, which is in the company's Hagerstown district.

Advantage Realty LLC

Debra S. Valentine of Advantage Realty LLc at 1101 Opal Court in Hagerstown, has received her Pennsylvania licensure. A Maryland full-time licensed real estate professional since 1986, she provides services to both sellers and buyers in Maryland and Pennsylvania.

Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA's Waynesboro office has recognized two sales professionals for excellent performance in May.

Paul Gunder and Dan Haffner were recognized based on the number of new listings, sales and referrals, attendance at real estate meetings and workshops and customer satisfaction reports.

Gunder has been a licensed sales professional since 1979. He is assisted by his wife, Diana Keilholtz-Gunder, and his son, Matt Gunder. They are licensed to list and sell in Pennsylvania and Maryland.

Haffner is a member of the Pen Mar Regional Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors and Metropolitan Regional Information System.

Deverell took her real estate training at the Institute of Real Estate Studies, Waynesboro. She is licensed to list and sell all types of real estate in Pennsylvania. She is a member of Metropolitan Regional Association of Realtors and National Association of Realtors.

Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Kim Hykes has joined Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA's Greencastle office as a sales professional. She is licensed to list and sell all types of real estate.

She attended pre-licensing courses at the Institute of Real Estate Studies in Waynesboro, Pa., and will participate in Jack Gaughen's New Agency Development Program, a five-week in-house training program.

She is a member of the National Association of Realtors, Pen Mar Regional Association of Realtors and Metropolitan Regional Information System.

Heurich Photography

SMITHSBURG - Christian Heurich of Heurich Photography in Smithsburg has earned the PPA Certified designation from the Professional Photographers of America.

To earn the designation, Heurich met requirements measuring his artistic, technical, ethical and business competence.

The PPA Certified designation is held by fewer than 2,500 photographers worldwide.


Tanya Mayer, assistant professor of electrical engineering technology at Hagerstown Community College, recently was named in Who's Who Among American Teachers.

To be selected for the inclusion, instructors must be nominated by a former student who was included on the National Dean's List.

Pangborn Corp.

David Zehren has joined Pangborn as a senior account executive. He will manage a territory consisting of several states in the Midwest, the West Coast and western Canada.

He has almost 20 years of experience in the surface preparation industry.
