Police seek information in incidents of window vandalism

June 18, 2005|by PEPPER BALLARD

No arrests have been made in connection with a rash of vandalism aimed mostly at car windows reported over the past couple of weeks in Hagerstown, Sgt. Paul Kifer said Friday.

In each of the 12 reported instances, mostly vehicle windows, but also a couple of business windows, have been shot out with what appears to be either BBs or ball bearings catapulted from a slingshot, he said.

In two reported instances, witnesses have reported seeing a red car drive off, but one time, the car reportedly was driven by a white male and another time, the car reportedly was driven by a white female with blond hair, Kifer said.

On June 1 and 2, there were five reported instances of vandalism. Three vehicles, mostly parked in the West End, Little Caesars Pizza and Wal-Mart had windows shot out, Kifer said. On June 15 and June 16, seven vehicles were damaged in the same manner in mostly the northern part of Hagers- town on North Potomac and West Franklin streets, and South Cannon and Oak Hill avenues, Kifer said.
