Man hurt in crash is released from hospital

FREDERICK, Md. - A Hagerstown man who was flown to a Baltimore trauma center following a crash Wednesday afternoon in Frederick County has been released.

Richard Izer, 54, was discharged Thursday from the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, a trauma center spokeswoman said. He was listed in fair condition late Wednesday.

Maryland State Police said that a Ford Focus driven by Izer and a Ford truck driven by William Blackburn, 35, of Gautier, Miss., collided about 12:41 p.m. on southbound Md. 194 at Warner Road. The nature of Izer's injuries and any charges filed in the incident were not released by police.

Sheriff's deputies respond to calls

The Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to the following calls Tuesday:

  • n At 8 a.m., a car stereo was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 1800 block of Chickasaw Court off Md. 65.

  • At 9 a.m., three stereos were reported stolen from separate vehicles outside a residence in the 21100 block of Twin Springs Drive near Chewsville. The stereos were valued at about $800.

  • At 11 a.m., a stereo was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 10400 block of Bear Creek Drive off Md. 65.

  • At 1:30 p.m., a wallet was reported missing from the pool at Byron Memorial Park in Williamsport.

  • At 3 p.m., three lights were reported broken in the rear of Sharpsburg Elementary School. The damage was estimated at $100.

  • At 8:30 p.m., a purse and briefcase were reported stolen from separate vehicles parked outside a residence in the 9900 block of Stephanie Lane off Md. 65.

Fireplace stolen from unfinished house

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A fireplace was stolen over the weekend from a house that is under construction, according to Pennsylvania State Police.


The fireplace was removed from the house in the 900 block of Alandale Drive between 5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Monday, police said.

Stereo equipment stolen from business

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Car stereo equipment was stolen Wednesday morning from Blazin Auto, 855 Buchanan Trail East, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The burglary was reported at 3:21 a.m., police said.

Vandalism reported at Memorial Park

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Borough police are investigating acts of vandalism in Memorial Park between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Police said trash cans were overturned, their lids were destroyed and several picnic tables were flipped. The glass cover of a bulletin board also was smashed, police said.

Police said several hundred dollars in damage was caused. Anyone with information may call police at 717-264-4131.

Man charged with disorderly conduct

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A borough man was charged with disorderly conduct for allegedly urinating on South Main Street Wednesday evening, according to Chambersburg police.

Marlin D. Hartman, 69, of 400 S. Main St., was charged in the incident, which occurred at 6:38 p.m. at 333 S. Main St.

Man being held on burglary charges

FREDERICK, Md. - A man police said was found Wednesday night crawling through a broken window at The Latino Market in Frederick was charged with burglary, according to a release from the Frederick Police Department.

Jose Guadalupe, 19, of no fixed address, was charged with second- and fourth-degree burglary and destruction of property.

Police responded to a burglary alarm at the 10 Hillcrest Drive business at about 11:50 p.m. and found a man entering the market through a broken window on the side of the building, police said.

Guadalupe was being held Thursday at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center on a $10,000 bond, a jail spokeswoman said.

Pills, change reported stolen

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a residential burglary that occurred between 1 p.m. Monday and 6 a.m. Tuesday in Guilford Township, Pa.

Police said pills and a can filled with change was stolen from a home in the 6000 block of Duffield Road.

Mailbox and post reported stolen

ORRSTOWN, Pa. - An entire mailbox, including the post, was stolen from a Letterkenny Township man's home Tuesday, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Police said the mailbox at the home of Ernesto Santana of 14290 Mountain Road was stolen Tuesday between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.
