"I religiously watch the council meeting on Tuesdays and I realize we are in a transition period with the new mayor and several council members but I really wish that when a person is speaking there wouldn't be an undertone of chatter with a couple of the council members. It's not only inconsiderate but it's disruptive. "

"Could someone please tell me what restaurant is going up out there by Uno's at the Centre at Hagerstown and also what's going up by Burger King and the new hotel out by Valley Mall?"

- Williamsport

"I think that people should take their signs down once their yard sales are over so people don't drive around and go to the same addresses again."

- Hagerstown

"Does anybody know if they are going to do anything to the empty buildings in the North End like the old Channel building and what about Sears? They need to put more things in the North End for people to shop."

- Hagerstown

"I'd like to comment on why someone would say that MCI prison is one of the filthiest ones they have seen. I've seen plenty of other ones down in Jessup that are a lot worse than MCI is."

- Hagerstown

"When did Michael Jackson move to the Hagerstown area? I thought the first page of the paper was reserved for county and local events. There is his face right on the front page."

- Hagerstown

"I wanted to say a big thank you to the man who lives in Wolfsville who found the two baby billy goats. We really appreciate him finding them and taking good care of our goats for us. Thank you again to the man in Wolfsville."

- Washington County

"I am looking for anyone who videotaped the Smithsburg High School graduation on Friday, June 10. My video recorder was not charged that day and my son graduated that day. Please call 301-733-5752."

- Washington County

"I'm calling about the mother who put her children's lives in danger by letting them ride in the trunk of her car. As far as the press describing her house and the location, you might want to consider it a community service."

- Falling Waters, W.Va.

"Does anyone know if they still have a night noise cut-off? If they do, then I'd wish they'd go ahead and enforce it. I also agree with the lady about Mail Call. I hope they have a whole page because I like to read it."

- Washington County

"I have a comment regarding the council meeting that was on TV. I have lived in Washington Gardens for many years and not by choice. I have worked for 20 years and have never made more than $7 an hour and have been looking for other jobs for about two years with no luck. How do you expect low-income single parents to pay the high rent in Hagerstown? I have an idea, instead of building more than 1,000 town houses and homes that cost so much money why don't you build more low- income housing?"

- Hagerstown

"In reply to someone looking for the meaning of 'D-Day.' It actually stands for 'Deployment Day' in the second World War when troops were sent to battle. Watch the History Channel occasionally and you will learn all sorts of things. That's where I heard it."

- Hagerstown

"Adults out there, you better help take care of your elderly parents and treat them with respect now or you will cry when the will is read. It can change at anytime legally."

- Washington County

"I'd like to make the comment on the West Virginia case where the man killed the dog. I hope and pray he has to serve three years in prison for what he did. God bless West Virginia. I had to put three dogs to sleep that were poisoned within the last 10 years. If my dog now is poisoned, I am willing to spend whatever to prove she was murdered. Enough is enough."

- Halfway

"I've been a correctional officer for many years and the past couple of years since Warden Waters retired I've been calling my delegates and complaining about things at the institution. I have proof behind these complaints and I have gone to the public meetings and now all of a sudden they are going to start taking an interest since the warden retired. Mr. Sacchet did the right and honorable thing when he came forward with what he said in the newspaper. These delegates knew about these problems for the past couple of years so it's about time they got up and did something about them. There needs to be some attention given to the prison complex south of Hagerstown, especially MCI."
