A Clear Spring man was killed Tuesday morning when he lost control of a 1998 Cadillac, which struck a power pole, a tree and then overturned, on Leitersburg Pike, according to a news release from Maryland State Police.

Shan Eugene Eyster, 34, was pronounced dead at Washington County Hospital after the reported 2:15 a.m. accident at Leitersburg Pike's intersection with Herman Myers Road north of Hagerstown, police said.

An investigation revealed the Cadillac was southbound, traveling at a "very high rate of speed" on Leitersburg Pike when Eyster lost control of it, police said.

The Cadillac was owned by a Waynesboro, Pa., resident, police said. When police checked the car owner's residence, they found the front door partially opened and signs of forced entry through a window, police said.
