Social Services employees receive awards from agency

June 15, 2005

Employees of the Washington County Department of Social Services were honored May 17 at the agency's annual Employee Recognition Day.

Harvey Alston, a nationally recognized speaker from Columbus, Ohio, delivered a motivational message, "Be Your Best," to the employees.

Christopher McCabe, Secretary of the Maryland Department of Human Resources, members of the Washington County Board of Social Services, Del. Christopher B. Shank, R-Washington, and former Hagerstown City Councilwoman Carol N. Moller congratulated the employees for the hard work and the commitment they demonstrate daily to the citizens of Washington County.

Employees were recognized for their years of service to the local agency and to the State of Maryland, perfect attendance and contributions they made as members of each of the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) teams.

David A. Engle, director of the Washington County Department of Social Services, thanked staff for their hard work and congratulated the agency on its successful Continuous Quality Improvement process by stating that 80 percent of the employees served on at least one CQI team to improve customer service and the work environment.
