Frederick County BOE announces personnel changes

The Frederick County Board of Education has appointed Vicky Stultz to the position of instructional director of elementary schools, effective July 1.

Employed by Frederick County Public Schools since 1982, Stultz holds a bachelor of science degree in intermediate education with a concentration in math from Appalachian State University and two master of arts degrees, one in language arts and one in school administration from East Carolina University.

She was a teacher for 10 years, an assistant principal for three years and was a principal for 19 years, currently at Middletown (Md.) Elementary.

She fills the vacancy created when Steve Martin was promoted from instructional director to associate superintendent.

The following principal appointments also are effective July 1.

· Suzanne O'Toole will transfer from Thurmont Elementary to fill the vacancy at Middletown Elementary.

· Kate Krietz was promoted from assistant principal at Thurmont Primary to principal at Thurmont Elementary.

· Myersville Elementary Principal Mark Pritts will transfer to principal of Middletown Primary, which is under construction and scheduled to open in August 2006.


· Ballenger Creek Middle School Principal Aaron Phillips will transfer to principal of Heather Ridge School, a position vacant because of Frank Vetter's transfer to Urbana Middle School, also scheduled to open in August 2006.

The school system also announced the transfer of elementary Assistant Principal Karen Hopson from Valley to Deer Crossing.
