Pa. woman hurt in head-on crash

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - A Mercersburg woman was in fair condition Saturday night at Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center following a head-on collision between a minivan and a tractor-trailer Friday morning on Pa. 16 in Peters Township, Pa., according to a press release from Pennsylvania State Police in Chambersburg, Pa.

According to police, Vicky Swailes, 50, no address available, was westbound on Pa. 16 around 8:30 a.m. when her Chrysler Town and Country crossed the center lane and struck a tractor-trailer heading in the opposite direction driven by David Souders, 37, of Warfordsburg, Pa.

Each vehicle hit on the driver's side front end, police said.

Souders was not injured, but Swailes was flown to Hershey, police said.

The road was closed while crews cleaned up a diesel fuel spill, police said.
