Suns lose in 10th

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Lexington's Ole Sheldon lined a single over Corey Coles' head with two outs in the 10th to score Bryan Triplett with the winning run Saturday in a 3-2 win over the Hagerstown Suns.

The Suns fell into a tie for second place with Lake County, two games behind Lexington in the South Atlantic League North Division chase with seven games remaining in the first half. The Suns, who have lost three straight, have fallen to their lowest point in the standings this season.

Lexington shut out the Suns through the first eight innings before Hagerstown used a break to muster a tie.

Carlos Gomez led off the ninth by reaching on a throwing error by Triplett from third base. Dante Brinkley followed with a triple that got by Lexington center field Hunter Pence to score Gomez. Brinkley scored when reliever Chad Reineke unleashed a wild pitch.

Lexington scored single runs in the third and the fifth, courtesy of Pence. Pence tripled in the third and scored on Ben Zobrist's single and hit his league-leading 23rd homer in the fifth off Suns starter Jeff Landing to give the Legends a 2-0 lead.
