Soap box derby


ROCS Classic Norwalk Soap Box Derby Race will include 74 young boys and girls competing in divisions to win the honor of representing Martinsburg at the All American Soap Box Derby Race in Akron, Ohio, on July 30. Railroad Heritage Days


The 15th annual Railroad Heritage Days features model train layouts and a chance to explore railroad equipment stationed in the rail yard. Railroad historian Dwight Jones will demonstrate how names and numbers of cabooses were stenciled and sign copies of his books on the Western Maryland Railway, the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad, and Maryland cabooses. Railroad safety programs will be featured in the "Operation Lifesaver" caboose. Today and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hagerstown Roundhouse Museum, 300 S. Family Arts Festival


Featured performer for the festival will be Nicolo the Juggler. Children may make a variety of art projects, including collage, drawing, painting and printmaking. Municipal Band


The Hagerstown Municipal Band will begin its 91st summer concert series. Slide Show, a trombone quartet, will present several musical selections. Other selections include "Festive Overture" by Shostakovich, "Blue Mist" by Osterling and "Stars and Stripes Forever March" by Sousa. Ahymn will be dedicated to Kenneth B.
