SpringHill Suites plan approved


The Washington County Planning Commission on Monday unanimously approved preliminary plat and site plans for SpringHill Suites by Marriott and Courtyard by Marriott in Halfway.

According to planning documents, the SpringHill Suites hotel will include 104 rooms and is on a 1.93-acre parcel, while the Courtyard hotel will include 96 rooms on an adjacent, 1.84-acre lot, off the Halfway Boulevard exit of Interstate 81.

Storage building site plan OK'd


The Washington County Planning Commission on Monday unanimously approved the site plan of a proposed storage building off the west side of Md. 66 near Smithsburg.

Planner Misty Wagner-Grillo said the proposed 3,840-square-foot building is slated to be used for storage of equipment. She said no increases in employees, parking or signage at the business site, owned by C.R. Semler Inc., are proposed in the site plan.

Plans for church building approved


The Washington County Planning Commission on Monday unanimously approved the site plan designed to create a church on farmland to the north of Old Forge Road.

Senior Planner Tim Lung said Right Choice Ministries intends to convert an existing building into a church, which is on a farm near Herman Myers Road.
