Lutheran Church members will gather in Hagerstown

June 08, 2005

Approximately 600 Lutherans, some from Delaware and Maryland's Eastern Shore, are meeting for their annual convention June 9-11 at the Clarion Conference Center Antietam Creek in Hagerstown.

The Delaware-Maryland Synod includes more than 20 congregations in Washington County and many of the organizers, including the Rev. David Kaplan, chairman; the Rev. Julie Brigham, assembly chaplain; and the Rev. Marton Roberson, chairman of the coordinating assembly worship.

Wayne Wold is keynote speaker. Composer, organist, author and faculty member of two local colleges, Wold was a member of the editorial committees for both the new Evangelical Lutheran Church of America hymnal and the "Renewing Worship Songbook."

There also will be two major worship services during the assembly. They will be led by Bishop H. Gerard Knoche and the Rev. Michael Burk, ELCA director for worship.
