Boonsboro's budget grows to $1 million

June 07, 2005|by KAREN HANNA

The Town of Boonsboro will be a $1 million municipality next year.

According to Town Manager John Kendall, the budgeted fiscal year 2006 revenues for the town have topped $1 million for the first time.

The Town Council unanimously accepted a budget for the new fiscal year, which begins in July.

Kendall said he anticipates about $380,000 in revenues from real property for the fiscal year, but that number could climb with new construction. The budget assumes 20 new houses will be built in the next year in Boonsboro, Kendall said.

The budget includes money for a full-time planner and a $9,000 increase in attorney fees. Kendall said those increases relate to the new construction, as well as ongoing annexation talks.

The operating budget approved by the council indicates the anticipation the town will finish next year $317,279 over expenses.
