June 06, 2005|by TARA REILLY

WILLIAMSPORT - Rehoboth United Methodist Church is planning a new church, along with several other facilities on the corner of Md. 68 and Downsville Pike near Williamsport, as part of a 50-year construction plan, according to Washington County planning documents.

The plan calls for the new church, an amphitheater, radio station, education center, caretaker/pastor house and senior housing cottages on 105.7 acres, according to the planning documents.

Rehoboth United Methodist Church is at 30 E. Salisbury St. in Williamsport.

The documents state that construction of the church is planned for the "near future," and that other phases of the plan would be built over a 50-year period as money becomes available to the church.

Additional details of the plan were not available Friday. The church's pastor, the Rev. James E. Swecker, could not be reached for comment.
