Martin's gives to schools, organizations

In celebration of the grand opening of the new Martin's Food Market on Wesel Boulevard, $6,000 was donated to local organizations.

The check presentations were held in the new store May 13, about two weeks before the grand opening, which allowed those present to get a sneak preview of the store.

Representatives from Martin's Food Markets distributed $1,000 checks to Halfway Fire Department, Hagerstown Police Department, Washington County Board of Education, St. Maria Goretti High School, Washington County Free Library and Food Resources Inc.

Additionally, checks were presented for the A+ School Rewards Program to the following schools:

· Fountain Rock Elementary School -$1,983.75

· Lincolnshire Elementary School -$1,675.47

· Potomack Intermediate School -$1,480.98

· Hickory Elementary School -$1,252.73

· Springfield Middle School - $1,237.99
