Hagerstown man in serious condition after Interstate 81 crash

May 30, 2005

Maryland State Police on Sunday were investigating a one-vehicle accident that seriously injured a Hagerstown motorcyclist Saturday night.

According to police, Adam John Short, 23, of Spruce Street, was driving a 1997 Honda motorcyle when he crashed on the Interstate 81 ramp to eastbound Halfway Boulevard at 7:04 p.m. Saturday.

The motorcycle was traveling at such a high rate of speed that Short was unable to take the curve at the ramp, police said. Short laid down the motorcycle and slid into the guardrail, police said.

Short was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where a hospital employee said he was in serious condition Sunday afternoon.
