Field of school board candidates narrowed in Greencastle

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - In the Republican primary for a four-year seat on the Greencastle-Antrim School Board, G. William Thorne finished atop the field of seven candidates in Tuesday's primary with 791 votes.

The other candidates who will be on the Nov. 8 ballot for the four-year seat will be Michael Shindle, Charles McClain and Daniel Fisher.

On the Democratic side, Patricia Fridgen was the top vote-getter with 262 votes. Also advancing to the Nov. 8 general election will be Teresa Rainey, Thorne and McClain.

For the two-year seat on the board, Rainey was the top vote-getter with 88 votes, followed by Fridgen, Thorne and McClain. On the Republican side for the two-year seat, Shindle was the top vote-getter with 268 followed by Thorne, Fridgen and Fisher.

O'Keefe, 49, of 12 Apple Drive, has served on the board for eight years.

Fisher, 48, of 2135 Castlegreen Drive, was appointed to the school board to replace Jill Patterson.

Fridgen, 49, of 576 Shannon Drive North, is a stay-at-home mother of five.

McClain, 47, lives at 4225 Fletcher Drive.

Rainey, 34, of 2250 Castlegreen Drive, also a stay-at-home mom, has five children.

Shindle, 41, lives at 4439 Williamson Road.

Thorne, 53, of 168 S.. Washington St., is a local dentist.
