CHAMBERSBURG, PA. - Janice Hawbaker, Jeffrey L. Spidel, Jane M. Rice and Donnie Piper were the top four vote-getters in the Republican primary for the four seats up on the Tuscarora School Board, according to final, but unofficial returns with all 13 precincts counted.
On the Democratic side, the top four were Hawbaker, Rice, Piper and Beckie Jo Higgins, according to unofficial returns.
All five will advance to the general election in November.
Spidel, 50, of 2364 Apple Way in St. Thomas, Pa., finishes his second four-year term in December.
Rice, 44, of 5701 Hager Road, Greencastle, Pa., also finishes a second four-year term this year.
Hawbaker, 47, of 209 S. Park Ave., Mercersburg, served on the school board from 1997 to 2001.She was appointed in December 2003 to fill out the rest of the term of Roger Price which ends Dec. 31.
Higgins, 33, of 1086 St. Thomas/Williamson Road, St. Thomas, has no party affiliation. This is her first run for public office.
