Washington County Public Schools has a new executive director of human resources.

The Board of Education voted Tuesday night to hire Edward W. Lynch as executive director of human resources.

Linda Barkdoll has served as interim director of human resources for most of the year, said Carol Mowen, the system's public information officer.

Lynch will begin June 1, he said. He most recently served as chief operations officer/director of human resources for the Ballenger Group in Frederick, Md.

Board watches video produced by seniors

Several Washington County Technical High School students took the spotlight Tuesday as audience members at the Board of Education's regular session watched "Outside the Inside: The Camp Ritchie Story."

The short video, which was produced by Rossana Larrick's AP American history class as part of the Western Maryland History Day competition, documents the experiences of Phillip Glaessner, a Jewish refugee from Germany who served as a U.S. military interrogator during World War II.

High school seniors Christina Carpenter, David Cross, Caleb Graybill, Jacob Lynn and Alex McIntosh were recognized as World Class Students.
